FightStick Training

Postby kheel » Tue Apr 20, 2010 4:07 pm

So my stick came today. White TE: S.

I made a new PSN "GRAP-Kheel" for anyone who wants to add it.

I made it for the purpose of having means to practice. To start all over.

Honestly, does anyone remember their transition from Pad to Fightstick?

I realized that I cant execute most of C Vipers moves, so until i get my execution back, I'm going back to Ryu as a temporary main. [Don't worry, come time for Super I'll be using pad when I actually want to win.]

Do you guys have any tips?

Edit: I've also decided I'm going to chronicle my Fightstick Training by listing accomplishments and things I need to work on. Starting with my next post.

Accomplishments:
Command Ultras on both sides at about 20-40% in training mode.
C. Viper Normal Trials 1-5
C. Viper Hard Trial 1
Viper's Anti-air TK into Ultra
FADC->Ultra
Jab->HJC->Ultra at about 50%, even landed it on Seth. Haha.

Need to work on:
High Jumping
Seimso - High Jump - Burning Kick
Instant Burning Kicks
Charge Ultras
Cancelling into Supers with the entire cast.
Real FADC Combos

I actually only switched to stick after I started this grapsf thing. In the beginning I was a pad guy and a few months in bought a used stick from Smurf so I'm kind of a recent convert.

Best advice: just stick with it and it will come, don't go back to pad even when you are frustrated. Stick with the fightstick and you'll get it after a month or so of sucking ass.

Pretty much the same here. Pad user for years, moved to the stick and now stuck being decent with it. Ironically its thanks to the stick that I am able to even use charge chars and thus Bison *if you had asked me a year ago if I would ever pick up a charge char I would have laughed at you, I just had too many execution issues, especially with charge ultra's/supers*

Haha I stopped updating this and went into a serious stick training regime. Now I'd like to think I'm damn decent with a stick. :D

I pretty much started on a stick.

I played sf4 on a pad for a year then bought BB:CT at the beginning of '10 and got a blister the same day i bought it. Ordered a stick the next day and never looked back.

I'd hardly say I'm pretty damn good at anything though.

I'd say you're pretty damn good at SSF4. Most of your obstacles seem mental. You'd be a force to be reckoned with if you can work around your own mental hurdles.
